South African Packham Pear (Per Piece)

$1.50 $1.90

South African Packham Pears are known for their juicy, crunchy texture and sweet, nutmeg aroma.

They have unique distinct  shape featuring a bulbous, wide bottom that tapers to a smaller, rounded neck.

Checking for ripeness is easy - When ripe, they typically develop a yellow-green colour and turn pale yellow as they mature. Or you can simply press the neck of the pear with your thumb. If it yields, it's ready to eat!

Serving Suggestions: Great for poaching and baking as Packham pear can withstand the heat while maintaining their flavour. Plus, they are  juicy and sweet with a creamy interior when they are ripe!

Suggested Alternatives: For a sweeter, softer texture, try our Bing Tang Pear XL, as they have a higher water content.

Storage Guide:
Store in the fridge for up to 5-7 days. If cut, place them in an airtight container and consume within 1-2 days. For unripe Packham pears, keep them at room temperature until they ripen. To speed up ripening, place the pears in a paper bag with a banana or apple. These fruits release ethylene gas, which accelerates the ripening process.
