Soft and fluffy on the outside. Rich, golden lava on the inside.

Our Handmade Signature Salted Egg Lava Custard Bao is one of the most indulgent additions to our Quan Shui Handmade Dim Sum range, filled with a rich, creamy salted egg custard that turns beautifully molten once steamed.

And we wanted the filling to taste like the real thing, because it is!

Instead of simply relying on salted egg powder, we use actual Salted Egg Yolk and premium SCS Butter, creating a richer, rounder flavour and that irresistible flowing golden centre.

Sweet, savoury, buttery and wonderfully indulgent, this is the Bao you'll want to save room for at the end of your meal!

Best enjoyed warm for maximum lava action. But do give it a moment before your first bite, as the golden custard centre can be very hot!

Serving Suggestions:

Enjoy your Salted Egg Lava Custard Baos freshly steamed on their own or pair them with Quan Shui's Handmade Siew Mai, Har Gow and other dim sum favourites for breakfast, snacks or afternoon tea.

For a simple finishing touch, pair with a warm cup of Chinese tea to balance the rich, sweet-savoury custard filling.

Cooking Instructions:

Total Preparation & Cooking Time: Approximately 40 Minutes

  1. From frozen, separate the number of baos you wish to prepare.

  2. Defrost for approximately 30 minutes.

  3. Lightly sprinkle the baos with water before steaming to moisten the skin.

  4. Once the water is boiling, steam for approximately 10 minutes.

  5. Allow the baos to cool slightly before serving, as the molten custard filling may be hot.

Heating times may vary depending on the appliance used.
